Does Breath of the Wild Have The Best Tutorial in Video Game History?

 

Ah, Breath of the Wild! One of the best video games of all time. (both in design and in just pure fun and exploration!) But today, I'm going to focus on a particular part of this game. The tutorial. Most gamers if they hear that word they will intently groan! But here me out! I am hear to prove to you all today, that Breath of the Wild has THE BEST tutorial in video game history.

Shrine of Resurrection

 

Now, when you first start up the game, you have no idea where you are and what's going on. Which first off already makes you want to find out more. Then, inside you learn to open chests, walk around, jump, use your slate and even climb. It gives you your most basic controls right in here. Then it shows you the true scale and beauty of the game. And you want to see more, you want to see it all! 

         

The Great Plateau 

Now its time to learn the mechanics. The Great Plateau is like a mini version of  the main game. You learn survival, stamina and it doesn't hold your hand vary much. You learn how to sneak, equip, gain weapons, learn how many ways to do so many things. It teaches everything to you, at your own pace. You learn how fight, how to climb, the importance of towers and more. You also learn what not to do. (I learned that a lot!) You truly want to explore every inch because it rewards you for doing so.  

Shrines

  

Later, you get an objective. To do all the shrines. But you have to find them on your own, teaching you even more about finding things and exploring. 

    Inside the shrines, you gain mechanics that you will use throughout the whole game. It teaches you with little puzzles and has you use it a lot to drill it into your brain. The shrines also teach you how the shrines are going to be like (but harder.) and later how to gain another heart or stamina.

Conclusion

 

The Great Plateau is great indeed. It teaches you all the mecanics, how the game works, teaches you to explore and think outside the box and even fills you with a wide eyed wonder of the world.
