Pokémon Designers & Illustrators Discussed Pikachu’s Origins Earlyer we learned about Pikachu being based off a squirrel but it doesn't stop there! They've got more information! Pikachu has a lost evolution. Once Pikachu evolved to Raichu, the plan was for Raichu to evolve into Gorochu. Gorochu was planned to have fangs and a pair of horns. Because of balancing issues, this evolution was removed. Pikachu’s first prototype design was “daifuku-like creature in the shape of a long daifuku with ears sticking out”. It was during this design that the name “Pikachu” was born. Atsuko Nishida explained more, saying that “I named it without giving it much thought, but since it was an electric type, I threw in a ‘Pika’. I didn’t have a mouse in mind for the “-chu” part, and I actually don’t remember the reason… but anyway, the name ‘Pikachu’ came first, and from there it was made into a mouse”. Nintendo Filed Trademarks for new and Old Games and My thoughts on this! Well, this is interesting. Nintendo has filed some trademarks for    According to Japanese Nintendo, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, Paper Mario, Dr. Mario and Punch-Out!! were the ones mentioned. So why does Nintendo want to trademark these? Japanese Nintendo says that “all trademarks are for purposes of ‘video game program’ and ‘downloadable video game program’”. Hmmmmmm! Sounds a lot like the virtual console Netflix to me! I've looked everywhere but no one seems to mention that ovious fact. I think  we may see N64 games sooner than we thought with Mario Tennis,  Party, Paper Mario  and even Dr. Mario! Or those could be for an N64 classic and Punch out is for the arcade archives. Pokémon Switch Could come out in November Recently PixelPar who has been known to be right about these things in the past recently said, For anyone wondering, Pokémon Switch materials have been undergoing localization since late Feb (possibly earlier). I've already had confirmation that it's targeting a 2018 release. Educated guess (based on previous Pokémon localization timing) it should be ready for Nov/Dec -PixelPar So do you think it will come out November, or do you think it will be earlier or 2019? Inside look at when Odyssey starts up in Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo of America just posted all the layers and such for the scene when you first blast off in the odyssey. Ways I think the Super Mario Movie Could Go Alright, so I know the Super Mario movie has been announced for some time now. But I just hadn't gotten around to it by now. Incase you don't know, Nintendo is teaming up with the creators of Minions to make a Super Mario Movie. The best part is that  Shigeru Miyamoto is being the co-producer with them. Detective Pikachu Movie Leaks As I'm sure you all know, the video game detective Pikachu is getting a Hollywood movie and is in the works. It will come out May 10, 2019.
