The Mystery of the Hell Valley Sky Trees!!!
The Mystery of the Hell Valley Sky Trees!!!
Ah, Halloween is fast approaching and I think its time for some SPOOKY articles!!! Ans I thought what better place to start than with the chilling Easter egg in Super Mario Galaxy 2... and trying to figure out the unknown. But before we do that, please consider liking, sharing and subscribing to GamingTelescope. Now, Let's take a look!
What Are They?
You can find this chilling easter egg in the Shiverburn galaxy by looking in person mode at the cliffs. There always in the same spot... watching you.Don't worry, it gets worse. These creatures or, whatever they are, file name is Hell Valley Sky Trees. And the sky is named Hell Valley Sky. This is quite puzzling because, they sure don't look like trees to me, and this is the Shiverburn Galaxy, not well... you know where.
So, let's break down a few possibilities and evidence for it.
Aliens?
They do look a little like aliens (or Endermen!) and technically they are since Mario's on a different planet! But... are they the kind of Aliens with UFO's and that stuff?
Well... maybe, however I do have my doubts. One hint that they could be aliens is that there is an Easter egg is Super Mario 3d world where if you look through the binoculars, you will see a UFO fly by.
While far from proof, it is something. But in the end, I don't think it's this theory. Why would they be called Hell Valley Sky Trees if they could just be called Aliens?
Lost Souls or Ghosts
One theory is that those guys are ether ghosts... or lost souls stuck in Hell Valley, looking over the cliffs at Mario. So this could mean two things. Ether Mario is in... well you know, or its just beyond those cliffs. But there's no proof of that so let's take a look at the ghosts theory.
Well, there is a chilling easter egg in Super Mario 3d land where if you wait a while by the flagpole of a ghosts house, a ghost will fade in. Then, after a few seconds it will open its mouth wide and fade away. Creepy hu? Could this and the Hell Valley Sky Trees be one and the same? Well, Let's take a look!
Alright, so first off the Hell Valley Sky Trees are silhouettes so they could be one and the same. They both have similar eyes and slender bodies. The one thing the ghost is missing is the arms and the one thing the Sky Trees are missing is being see-through. But they could easily be the same.
Are they ghosts following and haunting Mario... or the player? Who knows! Let's check out my OWN theory!
The Hell Valley Theory
Building From The Kodama Theory
Alright, so we've looked at these guys being ghosts, aliens, lost souls in a certain place... what else could they be? Well, I have a theory of my own which I build from the popular Kodama theory.
Incase you don't know, Kodama are Japanese spirits kinda like Dryaids who live in trees and do look quite a bit like the Sky Trees. They are vary prominent in Princess Mononoke.
Does this mean that the Sky Trees and the Ghost are Kodama? With the sky trees, I believe so, as for the ghosts... its harder to say.
You might be thinking, "No Way! The Sky Trees are way to tall to be Kodama!" I which case, the Kodama in Princess Mononoke was their interpolation of the creature. They have been around for thousands of year and have changed how they look. They use to look like people. So Nintendo could have combined the old and the new versions.
Now, my theory time. While I like the idea of them being Kodama, it doesn't explain why they were called Hell Valley Sky Trees. So, I did some research and found that their is a place in Japan called Jigokudani, which literally translates to Hell Valley. This place is famous for being really cold, except for it's hot springs that monkeys and people alike hang out in. It even has forests, the perfect place for Kodama!
The Shiverburn galaxy focuses on hot and cold, right? Like when everywhere's freezing except for the pools of lava! So my theory is, the Shiverburn Galaxy is based on Hell Valley and that is why their called Hell Valley. The sky part is self explanatory and the tree part is explained with the Kodama!
And there you have it! What do you think of my theory? Which theory do you think is right? Have a theory of your own? Let us know in the comments. Also, don't forget to like, share and subscribe to GamingTelesope. Thanks for reading!
