Top 10 Unsettling, Disturbing or Downright Creepy Moments in Mario Games

Top 10 Unsettling, Disturbing or Downright Creepy Moments in Mario Games
Mahahahahahah! Welcome everyone, to another SPOOKY article! This time, I'm looking at some of
the most unsettling, disturbing or downright creepy moments in the Mario games. So prepare yourself, because were diving right in!

10. Super Mario World Sunken Ghost Ship
I will take a quote straight from the Super Mario World Manual.

"This is a strange looking sunken ship. Havn't you seen it somewhere before? That's right, in Super Mario Bros 3 Koopa and his kids used a flying ship to make life tough for Mario."
Yes, that was a quote. So your telling me that when I beat that level ether A. The crew drowned and turned into boos or B. The ship sunk, and is now haunted. Well, that's a pleasant thought!

9. Super Paper Mario: Underwear

Alright, so this next one isn't as funny as it sounds! The Underwear is actually based on the Underworld! In that world, you go there whenever you get a 'Game Over', their version of dying.
At the beginning of the world, there is a boat with a guy on it, who for just 10 coins will row you across the lake. But, if you decide to swim, you will find something much more eerie! Skeletal hands will slowly come towards you and when they get you, it hurts!

Also, the music is really weird and even creepy here! You wont hear many songs like this!

8. Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door: Ghost T.
I love Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. It is quirky, amazingly funny and lots of fun to play! But it is also filled with some fairly creepy stuff... like Ghost T.! Now, Ghost T. has been haunting this train for who knows how long and is part of the main quest on the train at night! He stole a blanket and will only give it back if you get him back his diary, however, he tells you not to read his diary!
But you can. If you try to, it seems the narrator is trying to warn you by telling you three times that your not suppose to read it, but after the third time, you can... and will instantly regret it! It's even creepier if you do it off of the train!

7. Super Mario 64: Big Boos Haunt
Ah, Big Boos Haunt! This place is famous for giving people nightmares! From the extremely eerie music, to the extremely eerie place in general. Plus the killer piano doesn't help! When you first enter the level, a boo says, "Come on in here......heh, heh, heh..." And, when you beat a boo for the first time, words pop up and say,  "Ghosts...don't...DIE! Heh, heh, heh! Can you get out of here......alive?"  From the floating eyes, to the spooky merry go round, this place is filled with spookiness!

6. Luigi's Mansion: Clockwork Room
Now, Luigi's mansion is filled with spooky moments, from the portrait ghosts, to the mansion itself, Bowser's head flying off in the final boss, to the creepy hanging shadow glitch, to even spooky messages appearing on the title screen.
But I decided to go with the clockwork room for 2 reasons.
   1. The Clockwork ghosts are quite creepy looking!
 2. This music sends chills down my spine every time!

5. Dry Bowser
Now, I get that Bowser needed a second form, I get that. And I guess they thought that Bowser getting big would get old, so instead, when Bowser falls into the lava, we see him turn into Dry Bowser. Now, what do you think happened to him? And you and Mario did that to him! That, I think, is pretty disturbing!

4. Japanese Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door: MURDER!!!
Another Paper Mario! Yep, it does have some pretty creepy and disturbing stuff in it! And the Thousand Year Door is far from an exception. Especially the Japanese version!
In Japan, if you enter one house in the dark alley, you'll notice something a little... suspicious. You'll see chalk in a form of a toad on the floor with... I think that's blood on the floor right by it! Yep, you are seeing the scene of a murder... in a Mario game! I wonder why it was taken out of all the other versions...

3. Super Mario 3D Land: The Hidden Ghost
Now I would have put the Hell Valley Sky Trees here or at number 1, but I've done an article on them so I thought it would be kinda cheap. But I highly recommend you check that out! So, instead we are looking at... the infamous, mysterious, creepy looking ghosts who appears in Super Mario 3D land.
All you have to do is get to the flagpole and wait. Then, in the far right corner, the slender ghost will fade in. Then, after a bit, it will widely open its mouth and fade into the background. A truly chilling sight!

2. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: Ghosts
This one has not one, not two, but three hidden ghosts in this game! The first is on the ghost train and if you stay and wait for a while, then a ghost will be following you underneath the track!
Ghost #2 is at a ghost house and if you wait by a bared window for about 20 seconds a ghost will fly out.
And Ghost #3 is at a different ghost house and if you wait about 5 minutes, hands marks will appear on the wall. Could someone have been trying to climb up to that door up there, but didn't make it in time... or fall?

1. Super Paper Mario: Mimi Transformation
Since you guys have seen plenty of Paper Mario, I figured I better finish it off with another! And this one looks like it came straight out of a horror movie!
Oh my gosh it's messed up! First her head cracks to the side, then it keeps going! Then it spins faster and faster and her eyes turn creepy! Then her head is upside down and spider legs come out of her head and her face is absalutley terrifying now, with no eyes, just a grinning mouth! Then she says he name over and over and over and... you get the point.
