Zelda Tv Series on Netflix? What Could it Be Like?
Zelda Tv Series on Netflix? What Could it Be Like?
Now, with the big possibility of Adi Shankar, producer of Netflix‘s Castlevania, working on a Legend of Zelda TV series, I wanted to take a look at how it could turn out, and what it could be like. Who knows, it might even be good! Let's take a look.
It Will Need to be Animated
I don't think we need to be worried about this one but I figured I'd talk about it anyway. It will need to be animated, because Zelda really wouldn't work nearly as well otherwise. But, since the director who's talking about doing it makes anime... I think we're safe.
Link Will Ether Need a Really Good Voice Actor, or Not Talk Vary Much At All
Now, there is a similar issue with the Mario movie, but I'll talk about that some other time. I think the main reason were so agents Link talking is because of the cartoon and the Zelda CGI games. But in truth, if they make Link a competent, likable character, then I see no reason why he shouldn't talk. I think he shouldn't talk TOO much though, because being a more quiet guy is part of his character. But if he talks please don't say "Well Exuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, princess!"
It Will Need To Be Rated High PG or Low
PG-13
Now, with the same guys who make most of their anime's high PG-13 or R, I'm a little worried about this one to be honest. Zelda games can be played by kids, so my hope is that at least the older kids can watch the show as well. Now, I'm going to guess what game they'll base the TV series off of and what they can/will change.
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Yet another one that could easily work, and it's dark enough for Netflix to work for them. This creepy, yet quirky game was praised for it's realistic and complex characters and plot, so it's good enough to be made into a series.
The issue is, lots of people who will watch this for the first time wont know who Link, Zelda and others are, so should the first villain they see be Skull Kid?
Twilight Princess
And finally, the last idea is twilight princess. Now, this would secure it a PG-13 rating for sure! (which Netflix wouldn't mind!) But it would work really well for an anime!
Good action, plenty of twists, I can easily see this one being a tv series. Imagine the first episode going, introducing Hyrule and the start of Link's adventure and it would end around when he turns into a wolf and trying to figure out what's going on!
I think this is the one that's most likely (unless Netflix does there own story!) for the series to be based off of.
What Would They Change?
As we all know, whenever something is adapted for a film... things are going to change! Well less so for a TV series, some things will still be pretty different. So what would/ could they change?
Well, I imagine they'd change Zelda's role a bit. She would be on the adventure with Link, not training to be Sheik (though that could be an episode or two!) not being kidnapped, not being trapped in combat with Ganon for 100 years, being right by Link every step of the way!
Adding on that, I bet they'd add one or two more supporting characters. Kinda like the Champions. That way, there would be more interesting character interactions and instead of the silent hero having to face the evil all alone (though he still will at times, like the climax), he'll have his buddies backing him up!
Anything else they could change? I'm sure we'll see some stuff we've never seen before in some episodes. New villains, new characters, new enemies and more. But that's about all I could think of. But what about you? What do you think the TV series will be like, if you think it's happening at all! Let us know in the comments.
