Looking Into Link's Awakening: Is Link's Awakening The New Wind Waker?
Nintendo shocked everyone with the one more thing announcement of none other than a Link's Awakening remake coming to the switch sometime this year! And I noticed that it was met with similar criticism to Wind Waker, and I'm going to tell you why I think they were met with said criticism, then we'll be talking about the graphics themselves. Now, without farther ado, let's take a look!
The Early Days of Wind Waker
Now, let's go back in time to spaceworld 2000! Here, Nintendo was showing off the power of their new console... the GameCube, by showing us all kinds of stuff! From Pokémon dancing to early Luigi's Mansion footage, but the one that excited many was a more realistic looking Zelda game. That realistic Zelda game wasn't Twilight Princess. It would grow up, to be Wind Waker!
And sadly, since some fans were so excited about a realistic Zelda, when they saw the cartoony animation of Wind Waker it was heavily criticized. But later, it was praised and everyone loved the art style.
Back to the Present
I think something similar happened with the Link's Awakening remake. When the trailer opened with an awesome anime art style, some people were disappointed that the game wasn't in the same style. Which is understandable.
But they may also have another issue with the games new art style. Some feel that it doesn't match the feel of the game.
In which case, I do need to remind them that while it is one of the saddest games in the series, it is also one of the wackiest! With Chain Chomps, Goombas, talking crocodiles, phones, a giant egg on a mountain and even Wart, but more on him later.
I also feel like the cut-scenes will be in the same anime style, which I think will be really cool!
What These New Graphics Mean
Well, I honestly don't think the graphics are too different than the original, style wise. But one big thing that I'm really excited to see, is the return of Wart and other forgotten characters.
You see, Wart has ever appeared in 1 Mario game, which is Super Mario Bros 2, and he also made a cameo in Link's Awakening and... that's it. So it's a big deal that he'll be returning at last in glorious HD!
In the end, I can't tell you how to feel about the new graphics. All I know is, this is an exciting time for Nintendo fans! But what do you think? Let us know in the comments below. Also, don't forget to like, share, and subscribe to GamingTelescope. Thanks for taking a look!
