Super Mario Galaxy V.S Super Mario Galaxy 2

Back in 2009, people were blown away with the masterpeice super Mario Galaxy, than only a year later they got Super Mario Galaxy 2!  But the question is, which is better. Now before we start I just need to say that if you don't have eather of these games, go and get them. They are one of my favorite Mario games! Also, this is my opinion and not yours so you may not agree with which is better. One more thing, please subscribe so that you never miss an article. Now lets blast right into things!

Story

Alright, story and controls are going to be TOUGH! But not as hard as the music battle. Okay so the story of the first galaxy, oh no! Peach and her castle have been kidnapped! And than Mario is blasted into space! I must say though, the opening cutsceane was awesome, dramatic and was what Super Mario Odyssey's cutsceanes were based on. Than Bowser on his way distroyd Rosalina's Comet Observatory and its up to Mario to collect stars and power stars to get enugh power go to the center of the universe. Not a groundbreaking story by any means but it gets the job done well.

Super Mario Galaxy 2's story is pretty similar. Mario is heading to the castle when, Oh no! Bowser's invading, and he's huge! This time he isn't even trying to take over the mushroom kingdom and is heading for bigger hights, he also tells you to go and hide in a green pipe or something! Once again, the opening is awesome, but in diferent ways. In the first its big, crazy, dramatic things happening and in the second, Bowser's big, awesome and is going for bigger things than the Mushroom Kingdom!

             Now if I had just left it here it would have been brutal to decide between the two! Luckily, there is more story in one of them tucked away. And that is Rosalina's storybook! In the first game, once you collect a grandstar, than a new chapter is unlocked about a girl (some say young Rosalina!) in a touching and beautifully colored storybook. The winner of Story goes to Super Mario Galaxy!

Controls

 This one will be brutal. Both control SO well! You can press A to jump, shake to spin jump, pointer to grab things or do a puzzle and other things like that. The problem here is that the controls are identical. So lets head into how there power-ups control. In the first there is the star, bee, boo, spring fire, ice and flying. And in the second there is star, fire, rock, cloud, bee, boo, spring and more. Now the only power-ups that don't control well are the flying and spring power-up. And since flying isn't in the second, the winner of this round goes to Super Mario Galaxy 2!

Gameplay

I probably sound like a broken record, but this is hard, okay? Okay so Super Mario Galaxy has 42 galaxy's and 120 stars to collect. And Galaxy 2 has 50 galaxy's and  242 stars to collect. But is there Quality over Quantity for both? Yes, both are build expertly well. 
So which is better? For me personally Galaxy 2, here's why. More good levels with more unique things going on. The first game was amazing but the second one I feel had more time to be bigger and better and more creative. I would put an example but I often mix games but all in all, Galaxy 2 was galaxy but bigger and better.
With more power-ups, mechanics, and even Yoshi for crying out loud! Another win for Galaxy 2 for me is that it is a little more difficult, like for example, the first boss in galaxy I can beat in a heart beat. But the one in galaxy 2, while the same boss, was a bit harder. With the boss running away when his shell is broken and later even pouncing at you. There were also more bosses in galaxy 2 and some of the galaxy's later on like the 64 and sunshine flashbacks are amazing! So all in all the winner of Gameplay goes to galaxy 2. 

Final Boss and Ending *Heavy Spoilers!*

In case you needed a refresher of both I put them right there for you. Alright, now both of these bosses are amazing and they are one of my favorite final bosses ever. They are both vary epic and in my opinion even though Odyssey won with the biggest twist, in my eyes these fights were better. So which is better? Well... I'll break it into a few cadigories to make it easier on me! It will be there phases, music, difficulty and ending.

           Alright so Galaxy 1's phases Bowser goes from planet to planet where you face him with everything you learned through the entire game, from shaking the Wii remote, to hitting plants, to destroying boulders, to even facing Bowser himself this take everything you learned like any final boss should. Now for the final phase the music intensifies and you face him how you did in earlyer fights. Than you win. Also, before bowser is a chalaging an super awesome final level.

            For Galaxy 2, after an extremely well made final level that tests everything you learned (and is harder than Galaxy 1's!) than you face Giant Bowser on a tiny planet and his Phases ramp up in intensity, once again testing everything you learned, however I feel galaxy 1 had everything you learned a little more. But galaxy 2 made up for it in Bowser's size! Than, once you think he's beaten you get a Holy Cow moment and you realize just how committed to this Bowser is. Than you face him Epic but anti-climatic final phase.

           The winner of Phases... I think its a tie!

Next up, Galaxy 1's final boss theme. Take a lisen.

And now Galaxy 2

Which is better? Well I think the first phases of Galaxy 1's phases is better than Galaxy 2's but out of the ones above I'd say Galaxy 2's is better. So I think this one is up to you. I'm sorry, how can I even try to say one is better than the other?

Next up is dificulty and since I've already gone into detail on the fights I'd say the winner of this one is in all honesty Galaxy 2, barley. Because he punches, he sends shock waves in all directions, he shoots giant fire for crying out loud!

And finally we made it to the ending. Alright so In the first one once you beat Bowser Bowser blows up and gets sucked into a black hole (Brutal! Almost makes me feel sorry for the guy!) Bowser than mourns for the loss of his galaxy and than the black hole was about to destroy the universe and all the Lumma's fly straight into the black hole and sacrifice themselves and save the day. Its a touching moment. Than Rosalina tells us that they will be back because stardust is what things are made of and they will come back as Looma's and stars and such (sounds and awful lot like Lion king or Buddhism or something!) and than the universe is saved, Peach and Mario are reunited and they head back to the mushroom Kingdom. The end. Well, for now.

             And Galaxy 2's ending is pretty much the same thing but with diferent characters and no Lumma's sacrificing themselves. Bowser is now really small, the world is saved, Rosalina shows back up and The end, even more so for now. 

                    So the winner of this one is Galaxy 1! And the total winner of the Final Boss section is a tie again!

Music

 Oh boy! So this is the one I've been dreading. Not because the music is bad, but because ITS THE BEST OF THE SERIES!!! Now, I'm going to compare my favorite level music, final level music, and the credits and come to the decision of which is better. However both games have AMAZING music and if you havn't heard songs from both games, I highly recommend doing that. Unless you consider it spoilers.

Favorite Galaxy song from Galaxy 1

My absolute favorite song from a Galaxy is dusty garden. It gives you a sence of a grand, epic journey and makes you want to take to the skies!

Favorite Galaxy song from Galaxy 2

Alright I know this is kinda cheating since its on the world map but, I think it counts, and if you don't... too bad! But my favorite of them all is World S's theme. Its beautiful, it reminds me of the great adventure I just had and sends images of my adventure in my head. It also makes me want to explore more.

Which one is better? From the grand, epic gusty Garden tune while your on an adventure to the quite, more remembering a grad adventure, I feel that gusty gardens wins by an inch, if that!

Final Level Songs

I love both of these songs, they both make me feel like, okay, this is it! This is my moment and what I have been working up to this intire time! I think all in all, Galaxy 2's wins.

 We did it!!! We won! They are both vary satisfying music and gives me flashbacks of my grand (pun intended!) adventure! But in the end I think Galaxy 2's Credit music is better and the overall winner of the music battle is... Galaxy 2

Replay Value

Alright first off I'll star with Galaxy 1. The great thing with this game is, you can find the rest of the stars, find the green stars to unlock new levels and you can even replay the entire thing as Luigi! And if you beat the whole game with both Mario and Luigi, you unlock a final level! My only complaint is, the comets. Comets are how you get most of the stars after the game and they are fun and challenging to play, however my complaint is sometimes you have to wait a while for them to appear, but its a minor complaint.

               Now on Galaxy 2. You can play as Luigi and a new world is intently unlocked and comets that you don't have to wait for appear. Once you collect all 120 stars, and you re-fight Bowser, a bunch of green comets appear for every level, so you are actually half way through! Green comets are where a green star or two are hidden in a level and you have to find it. They are after hidden in areas that you wouldn't think to look and are a lot of fun to look for. They are also really hard at times. Than once you beat all of those you unlock the final Galaxy, the grandmaster Galaxy. You thought the final level in super Mario Odyssey was hard? Wait till you get a load of this! Its jumps from theme to theme and tests all the skills you learned in the entire game with brutal difficulty. Than when you have a full amount of starbits in the bank you unlock the daredevil comet for the grandmaster galaxy, meaning you have to beat the entire thing in one go, without losing a single life. And it literally took me ALL day to beat it! Its brutal stuff! Than when you beat that Rosalina congratulates you and you earn one last star and get a really satisfying ending and then she comes and hangs out in your ship. So yah, hands down Galaxy 2 wins this battle.

Super Mario Galaxy 2!!!

Conclusion

 Both games are master peices, and while I personally like Super Mario Galaxy 2 more, that does not mean you should not play both. I honestly recommend you play these as much as I do with Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. They truly are something special. Thanks for taking this journey with me.
