Would it work?
Don't forget, Nintendo was the first to do VR! |
Now, this is the easiest question. Yes, easily! The Nintendo Switch is praticly build for it with motion controls, HD rumble and more! We even got a test of Nintendo VR with Nintendo Labo Project Giant Robot!
Would it Ruin Nintendo's Brand?
An interesting question. I think there are a couple things to consider here. VR would attract more people, but it would cost more.
Another thing to consider is, while some games would work with VR or at least a VR mode, like Metroid, Luigi's Mansion and Breath of the Wild. Am I the only one that thinks those in VR sounds amazing? But on the other hand, games like Mario, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart and more would both be harder in VR, and it would take away a lot of the charm. And some games like Smash bros and Kirby wouldn't work well at all in VR. And I know VR doesn't have to be firtst person, but it would still cost more and detract from the casual audience.
And one of the greatest things about Nintendo is couch co-up where you laugh as your friends scream in horror as a blue shell steals there victory. With VR, you can't see your friends, you can just see the screen.
So yes, I do think it would all in all ruin Nintendo.
Will Nintendo Do It?
Not yet at least! Nintendo has said that, while interesting, it doesn't have a big enough audience. Same with 4K. But what about in the future? I don't know, Nintedno isn't the kind of company to follow trends, they start them. So they could make there own unique Nintendo-y VR, but I don't think so.
And there you have it. Do you think Nintendo should do VR? Let us know in the comments.
