Taking a Closer look at Early Zelda Breath of the Wild Concept Art
Why am I looking closly at early Zelda artwork? Because its cool and we can see just how diferent it would have been! But before we start, consider subscribing to NintendosView so you never miss an article. Now lets dive into the early concept art of Breath of the Wild.
Alright so I can't read Japanease so I'm just going to go on a hunch and say that's an early Guardian. Or a boss. I think this ones pretty straight forward.
Look away kids! Were diving into the depths of the underworld here! I also have a feeling that these are ether bosses, or Guardians. Can you imagine just exploring and than one of these guys starts chasing you? I honestly am sad that these aren't in the game, it might be darker, but its some pretty awesome looking bosses! Now if they were Guardians, I think we can all agree the game would be a bit darker. Just look at the size of those things!
Now these look a bit more steampunk than the other divine beasts. But I think they all look cool! The crab, the dargon with a Hot head! A moving city looks like it came out of a Studio Ghibli film! The flying one, the dino one looks awesome! And the tellascope whale. All look pretty awesome to me!
This is Hyrule, I assume before Ganon took over. I think it looks amazing!
Now this is inside Hyrule Castle and it looks amazing! Not too much I can say about this one!
Ohhhhhhhh, boy! I think this is like... a friendly Lynal? I don't know! Whatever it is, I think we can all agree that the games better without him... her?
I think these are some early versions of the Professor. I prefer the actual version but this is pretty cool to see them deciding between them all.
This is an early Shikka Warrior. It looks more like Sheik in this early version than it does in the final game.
These guys are Sheikah people. The interesting thing here is that they didn’t go for the rural Japan aesthetic first of all, and actually considered all manner of different clothing styles for the tribe before settling on what they had.
These are early Wizrobes. Appearently they were throwing lots of ideas around I'll just go through them quickly. A creepy and cool looking one on the left, than a bird one? Than a poe looking one more like what we got, and an evil which! Out of all of these and the final vershion, I'd go with the creepy one! But that's just me.
Woah! Is it just me, or does that look more like Pokémon than Zelda? It looks cool though, and I have to wonder why its burning pages.
I think that's a teck lab, or a shrine. I honestly think it looks really cool, except for one thing, the guardian. Its tipping its hat?!? I know its a friendly one which would have been kinda cool but still!
This is a mount Rushmore version of Goron city with a cool Japanease bridge and arch. I think it looks pretty cool!
This one looks amazing! Its early village designs for the Rito and I love it! It again looks straight out of a Studio Ghibli film and I would be just as happy with this one in it.
I think this is another vershion of Rito Village but it might be somewhere else. In any case, it looks cool.
This is an early version of the great fairy. This one gives of a more Shriny feel to it with lots of gold and an ancient Japanese looking great fairy. I prefer this version to the flashy but ugly final game version.
These are some early versions of Zelda and my favorite of the bunch is the one in the middle. I like the final version WAY better though.
Now I know most of you have seen these last three but I decided to look at them in more detail. So its link on a motorcycle, whereing a jacket and a weird hat and would play a guitar instead of Oceania. I think I'm not the only one glad that they dropped this!
So Link in this one kinda looks similar except I think he has brown hair. There's a war tower and a big dust cloud and instead of Breath of the Wild, it would have been called Hyrule Wars. I think that would have gotten confused with Hyrule Warriors!
And last but not least, Legend of Zelda: Invasion! You can see a bunch of alien ships coming out of the main one and over to the right there you see the aliens in a comic.
And there you have it. Did you find concept art that I missed? What was you're favorite concept art? Let us know in the comments.
